Finding Joy in God’s Promises
Matt Dennings - December 10th, 2023
Text: Luke 1:39-56
There are experiences in our lives that can appear too good to be true. When we contemplate the idea of God taking pleasure in us, like a father cherishing his child, we may dismiss it as impossible, disqualifying ourselves due to our sin or weakness. However, even though we have done nothing to earn or deserve God's tender mercy and affection, we can find assurance in the fact that this unimaginable love is promised to us in the death and resurrection of Jesus. Take a moment to listen to Chris' sermon on God's promise of love for us, as revealed in Luke 1:57-80.
Is joy a realistic expectation for our daily lives, or is it a sentimental idea we reserve for the holiday season? In Luke 1:39-56, we see that joy truly has entered into our stories in the person of Jesus Christ and that we always have access to that joy through the promises of God. Listen to Matt’s sermon to hear him unpack three promises of God we see outlined in the passage and how those promises help us magnify the source of our joy.

Embracing Hope Through the Promises of God
Nick Sweerin - November 26th, 2023
Text: Luke 1:1-25
In our constant war for peace, we can take comfort in that true peace is found through God’s promises, which don’t change or depend on us. Mary experienced this peace as she submitted to God’s plan for her life in light of His favor towards her. This peace is not an abstract concept, but a tangible reality we have access to in Jesus by the grace of God. Yesterday, Brandon Moore delved into the theme of peace as he continued our Advent series in Luke 1:26-38.
We kick off our Advent series, “Prepare Him Room”, with a sermon delivered by Nick Sweerin from Luke 1:1-25 on what it looks like to embrace hope through the promises of God. Throughout history, we have experienced a world full of turbulence that tempts us to turn to hopelessness. However, we see in the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth how God breaks into our lives with the hope of Jesus precisely when we least expect it. Let us prepare Him room knowing our hope is secure in the midst of the struggles of everyday life.
